What is STM ?

Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) is one of the most striking surface analytical techniques ever found since 1981. It is so powerful that we can somehow "see" the atoms of a material. The inventors, Binning and Rohrer were awarded the Nobel Prize for it in 1986.
