Current project:
My research is based on the search, cloning, expression, and characterization of members of a large family of bacterial virulence factors found in a wide array of pathogenic bacteria. Novel factors will be cloned and expressed in E. coli , purified, and characterized for their catalytic function as ADP-ribosyltransferase enzymes. Ultimately, we hope to better understand the role of these factors in the pathogenesis of the offending organisms and to develop potent therapeutics against these factors.
