Chemistry HP DesignJet 800 Poster Printer

The Department of Chemistry owns a large-format printer capable of printing posters up to 36" by 56" in size. It is located in the new Science Complex room 2107. Our hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm. This guide will help you create posters that will print with a minimum of surprises. Our preferred software for printing is Microsoft PowerPoint or Adobe PDF.

For a typical 36" x 48" or 36" x 56" posters we charge the rates shown below. Posters which are abnormally large or small will be quoted a different price.

If you plan to pay by a grant please have the grant owner complete and sign this form. If you plan to pay by cash, we will issue you a receipt. Please try to have exact change. All non-University of Guelph users must pay by cash.

NOTE: Our paper is a 36" wide heavyweight matte. Posters must be 36" or smaller in at least one direction. We do not have lamination equipment.

We have the following software for printing

Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 (Office XP) & 2007
 Adobe Acrobat
Photoshop
for .jpg and other bitmap formats

Please note that we do not have many exotic fonts installed. If your poster uses any, please copy the requisite .ttf or .fon files onto a floppy and bring them along.

Bringing Us Your Poster

You can bring us your poster by a variety of methods ...

via Email (oehler@uoguelph.ca) for files under 5MB.
via USB Memory stick.
via CD-R or CD-RW.
via
FTP. FTP to www.chemistry.uoguelph.ca and use hp350c for both username & password.

If everything works OK, printing takes about 20 minutes. We print first come-first serve.
